North Side Gallery Berlin – A Snapshot from May 2025

, by Bart Van Kersavond

The Graffiti Lobby Berlin continues to advocate politically for the preservation of the North Side Gallery in the north of Berlin. What started as a curated project has since become a publicly accessible Hall of Fame.

The space offers many writers an important place to work freely – low-threshold, permanently accessible, and legal. That makes it all the more important to keep the area clean, treat it with respect, and maintain good relations with the surrounding residents.

In June, a motion aimed at reversing the public access to the space was successfully rejected. The NSG will remain open.

Despite this success, the situation remains fragile. The Graffiti Lobby Berlin continues to call for clear commitments from policymakers – including infrastructure like on-site spray can disposal – to support more legal spaces and a long-term perspective.
