Your destinations are not London or Paris, but Děčín Východ or Maschen marshalling yard.
You prefer to ride freight trains, breathing brake dust in the slipstream, never fully knowing where the journey leads – only the rough direction is predictable.
Here, the ride itself is the destination, and adventure is guaranteed at every stage.
A young generation of “freighthoppers” uses the new European freight corridors to travel across the continent.
With film, photography, and drawings, they document their experiences – and publish them both digitally and in print.
The installation Res Publica Intermodal by the collective Complesso Iva Melhor (EU) explores this travel culture of the “new hobos”.
Publications, wasteland brunches, and conversations invite visitors to dive deeper into the subject.
The program is complemented by works of international freight-train painters.
