SKIM All You Need Is Style feat. SHEK
SKIM aims to bring letters to life, whether as a painter or as a rapper. As a third-generation graffiti artist, SKIM became known in the mid-1990s for his passionate style. As a rapper with the group Beatfabrik, he also achieved major musical success in the late 1990s, with over 400 performances in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. During this time and after the group’s breakup, he remained true to his passion—painting.
SKIM’s preferred canvas was the city, and especially its trains, which he regarded as his personal “Hall of Fame.” Over the years, he has inspired many artists who likewise made art a central part of their lives.
SKIM closely links his “style” to cultural expression and sees it above all as a form of authenticity. He says:
“Style is an expression of culture, of one’s manner and, above all, authenticity—because an image only lies if the person behind it does too.”
This attitude shapes his entire artistic body of work and makes SKIM a significant representative of the European graffiti scene, who has remained true to himself across different art forms.
