HYBRID SCULPTORS include spatial painting and drawing, sculpture, music and performance art into their art works in order to expand reality and our modes of perception. They research a creative equilibrium of digital and real body with the use of motion-capturing, scanning and rendering.

The color information of surfaces, bodies and objects, such as faces, paintings, color palettes, garments are “peeled”/scanned live with the 3D augmented reality tool “Potator” (developed by Keez Duyves). The scanned surfaces serve as material for virtual brushstrokes and colored surfaces, which are painted “into the room” and combined with physically real or traditional artistic media. The result is hybrid sculptures.

By means of projections and tablets, visitors can explore the invisible parts of the works of the exhibition and the active room installation.

Within the framework of the performances, hybrid sculptures will be created in front of the eyes of the public. All visitors are invited to a session at the Open Studio in order to become active themselves, accompanied by the artists, for using this open, digital medium for their own experiments.

The program of “Outside the Inner Eye” by the HYBRID SCULPTORS is a research area for extended modes of perception and shows completely new possibilities for the production of reality.

@Hybrid Sculptors

Keez Duyves, @Hybrid Sculptors

Thomas Bratzke aka ZASD, @Hybrid Sculptors

THE ARTIST COLLECTIVE HYBRID SCULPTORS:

“We are Hybrid Sculptors. We produce sculptures and spatial drawings. We write a poem into space like a body. Free of resistances, the virtual reality of thoughts and digital simulations appear, but the more resistant thing seem to be the physical reality.

We put these forms in direct relation to each other in order to understand what really is, or what can really be. Hybrid sculptures are not found in a virtual reality, but have a virtual ratio.
