The artist initiative Liebe zur Kunst has been advocating for more legal spaces in Berlin for years. In doing so, it counteracts the rapid disappearance of urban art in public space. The initiative organizes Urban Art projects primarily on a voluntary basis and creates free spaces in which artists can work visibly — beyond illegality and constant displacement.
A standout example of this is the Urban Canvas parking garage in Berlin-Wedding. Located at Brunnenstraße 105–109, a large-scale Urban Art gallery of high quality is taking shape—one that is continuously evolving. Unlike classic Hall of Fame spots, the individual pieces remain in place for at least two months. This allows for a deeper engagement with the works and gives them a rare sense of permanence within an otherwise highly fleeting urban environment.
